Angeles City is set to witness a transformative development as Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. leads the groundbreaking ceremony for a 2,450-unit socialized housing project on February 27, 2025, in Barangay Mining. The project, part of the national Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, aims to provide affordable homes to qualified residents and marks a significant milestone in the city’s housing initiatives.
The housing project will consist of ten six-story buildings, with each building containing 245 residential units. In total, 2,450 units will be built to house deserving beneficiaries. The development goes beyond just providing homes, as it will also feature 200 car parking spaces, 680 motorcycle parking spaces, a village market, a clubhouse, and a transport terminal. These amenities are designed to create a self-sustaining and well-rounded community for future residents.
This socialized housing project is aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s goal of delivering 1 million housing units annually to address the country’s housing backlog. The project’s focus on multi-story buildings will maximize urban space and ensure the provision of sustainable and livable housing solutions for Filipino families in need.
In partnership with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), the city government of Angeles will provide the land for the development, while DHSUD will oversee the project’s implementation. The city government will also manage the listing of beneficiaries, social preparation, and socio-economic profiling to ensure that the distribution of housing units is fair and transparent.
Mayor Lazatin expressed his appreciation to President Marcos Jr. and DHSUD Secretary Jose Acuzar for their support in making this housing project a reality. He emphasized that this initiative is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Angeleños to access affordable, quality housing. The Mayor’s vision for addressing housing concerns in Angeles City has been a priority since he took office in 2019.
Since then, Mayor Lazatin has overseen the awarding of 1,962 certificates of lot allocation and the distribution of 787 land titles and deeds of donation to urban poor families through the Angeles City Human Settlement and Urban Development Office, headed by City Councilor Atty. Arvin Suller. These initiatives have contributed to the city’s ongoing efforts to provide secure housing for its residents.
The groundbreaking ceremony on February 27 will officially launch this long-awaited housing project, furthering Mayor Lazatin’s commitment to providing accessible and dignified homes for Angeleños. This project is not only a major step in fulfilling the housing needs of the community but also a tribute to his father, former First District Representative Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin, who first established the Human Settlement and Urban Development Office during his administration.
