Barangay Balibago officials and employees undergo an unexpected drug screening, spearheaded by Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. on March 21, 2024.
The mayor directly supervised the process alongside the Angeles City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, led by Ricky Saul. Lazatin emphasized that the initiative is part of their anti-drug program and aims to ensure a drug-free environment among those serving in the city’s 33 barangays.
The surprise drug testing involved 565 individuals, with Lazatin’s team including various city officials and offices such as his Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, the City Health Office, Angeles City Tourism Auxiliary, Gender and Development Office, Angeles City Economic Development Investment and Promotions Office, and the Barangay Affairs and Public Assistance Center.
Calaguas mentioned that a total of 6,670 barangay officials and workers across all barangays will undergo similar surprise drug tests.
