ANGELES CITY – The displaced residents of Sitio Balubad in Barangay Anunas, who were forced to leave their homes in March when Clarkhills Properties Corp. reclaimed a 73-hectare land, now have a chance to secure new home lots in nearby Magalang town.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. announced that a 3-hectare area in Magalang has been designated for this purpose. The area will be divided into 660 lots, each measuring 45 square meters, to accommodate the 535 families, totaling around 2,000 individuals, as identified in a recent mapping by the Angeles City local government.
“This initiative will finally enable these residents to own their properties,” Lazatin said. “As I previously promised, I will not abandon the affected residents of Sitio Balubad,” he added, noting that preparations for their relocation are already in progress.
Councilor Pogs Suller, appointed by Lazatin to oversee the issues affecting Balubad residents, assured that water and electricity connections will be promptly installed once the families relocate to Magalang town, which is part of Pampanga’s 1st Congressional District.
In March, Clarkhills Properties Corp. took control of Sitio Balubad, establishing checkpoints at all entry points. Initially, Lazatin had offered P70 million to purchase two hectares from Clarkhills for the residents’ relocation, but the offer was declined, leading the Angeles LGU to find an alternative location in Magalang.
This relocation plan represents a significant step towards resolving the housing crisis faced by the displaced residents, providing them with a secure and permanent place to live.
