ANGELES CITY — The city government under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. is set to complete all the pending infrastructure projects amounting to P745 million in the third quarter of 2024 and in January 2025. Mayor Lazatin revealed this during his 5th State of the City Address on June 24, 2024, at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Legislative Building. These projects mark a significant milestone in the city’s journey towards enhanced infrastructure and economic growth.
Among the projects slated for completion and inauguration in the third quarter of 2024 is the expansion of the Crematorium, which has a budget of P220 million. This expansion is expected to address the increasing demand for cremation services and provide better facilities for the residents of Angeles City. The upgraded facility will offer more efficient and dignified services, ensuring that the city’s needs are met with respect and care.
The construction of the New Pampang Public Market, worth P400 million, is another major project on the list. This new market is set to become a hub of economic activity, providing a modern and spacious venue for local vendors and businesses. The improved infrastructure will enhance the market experience for both vendors and consumers, promoting local commerce and boosting the city’s economy.
The Kanlungan ng Kabataan project, valued at P30 million, is dedicated to creating a safe haven for the city’s youth. This facility will offer support and resources to vulnerable children and adolescents, helping them to thrive in a secure and nurturing environment. By investing in the welfare of its young residents, the city aims to build a stronger, more resilient community.
Another significant project is the construction of the East Circumferential Road, also costing P30 million. This new road will improve traffic flow and connectivity within the city, reducing congestion and travel time for commuters. Enhanced transportation infrastructure is crucial for the city’s development, facilitating smoother movement of goods and people.
Looking ahead to January 2025, the city government will complete the construction of the new Legislative Building, a project worth P65 million. This modern facility will provide a state-of-the-art venue for the city’s legislative operations, supporting efficient governance and public service. The new building will symbolize the city’s commitment to progress and effective administration.
Since taking office in 2018, infrastructure development has been a priority for Mayor Lazatin. He firmly believes that robust infrastructure is the backbone of economic growth. By investing in these projects, the city is poised to create a more prosperous and sustainable future for its residents. The completion of these initiatives will not only enhance the city’s physical landscape but also improve the quality of life for all who live and work in Angeles City.
