President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. visited the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in Pampanga earlier today, where he handed out P10,000 in financial aid to Kapampangan farmers and fisherfolk. This financial assistance is part of the government’s Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita (AKAP) Program, which aims to support farmers, fisherfolk, and their families who have been severely affected by the El Niño phenomenon.
The financial aid distribution was preceded by the turn-over of various agricultural equipment and other support services. These provisions were given to the governors of each province in Central Luzon, marking a significant effort by the government to bolster the agricultural sector during challenging times. The event highlighted the administration’s commitment to aiding those in the agriculture industry who are struggling due to adverse weather conditions.
In his speech, President Marcos lauded the dedication and hard work of the farmers and fisherfolk, emphasizing their crucial role in ensuring food security for every family. He acknowledged the immense challenges they face and reiterated the government’s resolve to provide continuous support to uplift their livelihoods and sustain the agricultural productivity of the region.
According to data from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist of Pampanga, over 4,000 farmers and fisherfolk have been impacted by the El Niño phenomenon. This climatic event has led to significant crop failures and reduced fish catch, exacerbating the economic hardships of those dependent on agriculture and fishing for their income. The financial aid and equipment provided are seen as essential measures to help mitigate these effects.
Governor Dennis Pineda of Pampanga expressed his heartfelt gratitude to President Marcos for his unwavering support for the Kapampangans. He highlighted the importance of the AKAP Program and the additional resources provided, noting that these initiatives are vital for the recovery and sustainability of the local agricultural sector. The governor’s words reflected the collective relief and appreciation of the beneficiaries.
In addition to the financial aid, beneficiaries also received 4-kilo bags of rice from the Office of House Speaker Martin Romualdez. This gesture further underscored the collaborative efforts of various government offices to provide comprehensive support to those in need. The distribution of rice not only provided immediate relief but also symbolized the solidarity and commitment of the government to ensure no family goes hungry during these difficult times.
The event at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center concluded with a sense of hope and renewed determination among the farmers and fisherfolk. The government’s interventions, as demonstrated through the AKAP Program and additional support services, have reinforced the community’s resilience and ability to overcome the challenges posed by El Niño. President Marcos’ visit and the assistance provided have left a lasting positive impact on the Kapampangan agricultural community.
