On July 15, the SMX Convention Center in Clark was abuzz with excitement as Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera, President and CEO of the Clark Development Corporation (CDC), delivered an inspiring keynote address to the 452 graduates of the Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PhilSCA) during their Commencement Exercises. This event marked a significant milestone for the graduates and highlighted the unique role of PhilSCA as the only state college in the Philippines offering specialized aeronautical programs.
Atty. Devanadera, in her address, underscored the critical need for a “town and gown” approach to education. “Clark Development Corporation and PhilSCA can go into partnership,” Atty. Devanadera stated, reinforcing her belief in the “town and gown” program. She elaborated on the metaphor, explaining, “The Town is the industry, and the Gown is the academe. And, I would like to see that all of you graduates will land a job that is related to your course.” This alignment, she argued, is essential for ensuring that the education provided is directly relevant to the career paths the graduates will pursue.
Atty. Devanadera also highlighted the evolving demands of the aviation sector, particularly within the dynamic environment of the Clark Freeport Zone. She pointed out that as the aviation industry continues to grow, so too does the need for a skilled and adaptable workforce.
