ANGELES CITY – Four individuals were apprehended for theft during the Tigtigan Terakan Keng Dalan (TTKD) celebration in front of Casino Filipino along McArthur Highway in Barangay Balibago on the early morning of October 27, 2024. The suspects were taken into custody around 4:00 AM by personnel from the Angeles City Police Station 4.
The arrested individuals were identified as Robinson Rusell Luna Asoy, Christer Miguel Sobiono, Jimson Flandez, and Francis Cristal Villena. The police action came after a complaint was filed by a 20-year-old student, Yasmin Sarip Lumabao, who reported that her phone had been stolen at the event.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. praised the quick response of the local police, acknowledging their efficient surveillance and presence during the popular TTKD festival. “Bawal ‘yan sa Angeles City,” Lazatin emphasized, reiterating the city’s zero-tolerance policy for crime and its commitment to ensuring safety for all.
Following the complaint, police personnel from the Intel Unit immediately responded and launched an investigation. They quickly pinpointed the suspects who were allegedly attempting to cause a distraction in the crowded venue. This distraction appeared to be a tactic to divert attention away from their criminal activity.
Upon questioning, the police recovered multiple stolen mobile phones from the suspects, including the Infinix Note 30 5G that belonged to the victim. The officers were able to trace the items back to the suspects after verifying the stolen property.
The suspects were immediately detained at Police Station 4 for documentation and to undergo further investigation. Authorities are expected to file formal charges against them in connection to the theft during the public event.
The swift action of the Angeles City Police highlights the effectiveness of their proactive approach to maintaining public safety. The incident also serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and cooperation between the public and law enforcement during large-scale events.
