On December 2, 2024, the Angeles City Government, through the City Veterinary Office, conducted a free anti-rabies vaccination drive for dogs and cats in Barangay Pulung Cacutud. This initiative is part of the city’s commitment to animal welfare and the safety of residents. The vaccination program was spearheaded by Dr. Christian Xyric Arcilla, who oversees the City Veterinary Office and has been instrumental in coordinating these efforts.
The city has planned a vaccination schedule that will cover all 33 barangays, ensuring that pets across Angeles City have access to this important service. This comprehensive plan aims to protect pets from rabies, a serious and often fatal disease, while promoting public health and safety. By prioritizing these vaccinations, the city hopes to reduce the risk of rabies transmission to humans and animals.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, known for her passion for animal welfare, expressed her support for the initiative. This program has been in place since Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. took office and is supervised by Chief Adviser IC Calaguas. Manuel’s participation reflects the city’s strong commitment to ensuring the health of animals and reinforcing responsible pet ownership among residents.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that the city’s programs are designed to promote responsible pet care within Angeleño households. He urged pet owners to take advantage of the free vaccination services, which are part of the city’s broader effort to enhance animal welfare and ensure community safety. “I call on all pet owners to have their pets vaccinated during the Barangay Bakuna program for dogs and cats,” Mayor Lazatin stated.
The free vaccination drive is just one of many services aimed at fostering a culture of responsible pet ownership in Angeles City. By providing these services at no cost, the local government seeks to alleviate financial barriers that might prevent pet owners from protecting their animals. This approach is intended to help keep both pets and their owners safe from the dangers associated with rabies.
Residents of Barangay Pulung Cacutud welcomed the vaccination event, expressing gratitude for the city’s proactive measures to safeguard their pets’ health. This initiative not only protects individual animals but also contributes to the overall well-being of the community by preventing potential rabies outbreaks.
The city’s dedication to animal welfare through free vaccination programs is a testament to its comprehensive approach to public health. Mayor Lazatin’s leadership, supported by key officials like Reina Manuel and IC Calaguas, ensures that animal safety remains a priority, fostering an environment where both pets and people can thrive.
