On December 9, 2024, the Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., extended financial assistance and rice subsidies to 83 differently-abled individuals from Barangay Lourdes Northwest. This aid was delivered through a house-to-house visit by local officials, aiming to provide direct support to those in need within the community. Each recipient received P1,000 in cash assistance and five kilos of rice as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to uplift and support individuals with disabilities.
The distribution was overseen by the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO), led by Ryan David. David noted that this initiative reflects Mayor Lazatin’s commitment to the welfare of persons with disabilities (PWDs). “This is not the first time that Mayor Lazatin has distributed financial assistance to the PWD sector,” David stated, underscoring the mayor’s consistent dedication to addressing the needs of this community.
The city government’s outreach program aims to help PWDs meet their basic needs and alleviate financial burdens, especially during challenging times. By providing cash aid and rice subsidies, the city is taking steps to ensure that differently-abled individuals have access to essential resources that support their daily living. This program reinforces the city’s mission to promote inclusivity and empower all residents, regardless of their physical condition.
Mayor Lazatin has prioritized the welfare of differently-abled Angeleños since he took office, making sure that they are given due recognition and support. His administration believes that creating a society that values and includes individuals with disabilities is crucial for the community’s overall development and unity. The mayor’s efforts signify his determination to create an environment where all citizens can thrive and participate actively in community life.
The city’s program will continue to reach out to more PWDs, with a total of 2,500 differently-abled residents set to receive the same support in the coming weeks. This initiative not only highlights the city’s dedication to its vulnerable populations but also showcases the commitment of local government officials and community organizations in ensuring that no one is left behind.
These efforts are part of a broader vision by Mayor Lazatin to implement comprehensive social welfare programs that address the specific needs of various sectors in Angeles City. By prioritizing inclusive support and sustainable assistance, the city hopes to foster a more compassionate and supportive community for everyone.
The ongoing financial assistance and rice subsidy programs serve as a reminder of the importance of community care and government responsibility in ensuring the well-being of all citizens. With the continued leadership of Mayor Lazatin and the active involvement of community organizations, Angeles City is striving to build a future where differently-abled individuals are treated with dignity and receive the support they need to lead fulfilling lives.
