On December 12, 2024, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. spearheaded the 12.12 PasalOne live selling event, promoting locally-made products under the “Gawang Angeleño” brand. The event showcased the high quality of products crafted by local artisans and entrepreneurs, providing a platform to support the city’s small businesses and boost local commerce during the holiday season.
During the live selling event, Mayor Lazatin emphasized the world-class quality of the products, expressing his pride in the craftsmanship of the local merchants. He also took the opportunity to thank the “miners”—the participants and buyers who supported the event by purchasing Gawang Angeleño products. This initiative was part of the city’s continued efforts to promote local products and provide a much-needed boost to the local economy.
The OTOP (One Town, One Product) live selling initiative was first launched in 2020 by the mayor’s chief adviser, IC Calaguas, and Executive Assistant Reina Manuel. The program is aimed at showcasing and selling high-quality local products, helping to expand the reach of small businesses in Angeles City. Since its launch, the OTOP program has provided a platform for local entrepreneurs to promote their goods, contributing to the city’s economic growth.
The Angeles City Economic Development Investment and Promotions Office (EDEPO), led by Irish Bonus-Llego, oversees the OTOP live selling project. Bonus-Llego expressed gratitude to all the sponsors of the event, highlighting their role in making the live selling event a success. The raffle prizes for participants, including the generous donations from the mayor and other sponsors, added excitement to the event, further encouraging people to participate.
Mayor Lazatin personally donated two smart TVs as part of the raffle prizes for the live selling event. Chief Adviser Calaguas, Executive Assistant Manuel, and FilChoice also contributed cash prizes. Additionally, Beautéderm, led by President and CEO Rei Anicoche-Tan, supported the event by donating beauty products that were featured during the live selling.
Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting opened the live selling event and actively participated by promoting Gawang Angeleño products. She emphasized that the event was not only about selling products but also about supporting the livelihoods of local merchants. “This is an avenue to support the livelihood of local merchants,” she said, underscoring the importance of sustaining local businesses in the city.
The 12.12 PasalOne live selling event was a success, demonstrating the strong community support for local entrepreneurs and providing a festive atmosphere for residents to engage in shopping while supporting the city’s economy. With continued efforts to promote local products, the city government of Angeles is committed to uplifting local businesses and ensuring their growth during the holiday season and beyond.
