On December 18, 2024, Angeles City Assistant Treasurer Merlita Requina, on behalf of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., officially received a cheque for ₱5 million from the representatives of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) – Angeles City Branch. This cheque represents the city’s share from PAGCOR for the month of November 2024, contributing to the city’s external revenue sources.
The cheque turnover ceremony was attended by key city officials, including Angeles City Tourism Officer Anneleen Sugui and Sharmaine Gonzales from the Mayor’s Office. Their presence underscored the importance of the partnership between the city and PAGCOR, which plays a vital role in supporting the city’s development projects and public services.
PAGCOR Angeles City Branch was represented by Human Resource Officer Marjorie Dela Cruz, who participated in the turnover of the cheque. The financial contribution from PAGCOR is part of the corporation’s commitment to supporting local government units, which helps fund various city programs and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of residents.
Mayor Lazatin expressed his gratitude to PAGCOR for its continued support to Angeles City. The funds received will be used to further enhance local infrastructure, public services, and other essential projects that benefit the Angeleños. This partnership is an important source of revenue for the city, complementing other local income streams.
The ₱5 million check represents only one of the regular disbursements that PAGCOR makes to local governments in the form of their revenue share. PAGCOR’s financial contributions help support various sectors, including health, education, tourism, and public safety in cities like Angeles.
Tourism Officer Sugui also highlighted how such funds could further boost the city’s tourism industry, which plays a major role in the local economy.
