Under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., the Angeles City Government recently rescued several members of the Aeta community in Porac through a well-coordinated reach out operation. The operation was part of the city’s continued efforts to provide aid and support to vulnerable groups, particularly during the holiday season.
The rescue mission was carried out by the Angeles City Tourist Auxiliary and the Angeles City Barangay Outreach, both led by Michael Lising. These teams worked together to ensure the safe recovery of the Aetas, providing immediate assistance and ensuring their well-being during the operation.
The Aetas, who had been residing in the area, were identified by the teams, and efforts were made to secure their return to their hometown in Porac. The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) played a pivotal role in the operation, conducting profiling and ensuring that all necessary documentation and arrangements were in place for the Aetas’ safe return.
The CSWDO has committed to facilitating the full return of the Aeta individuals to their home community in Porac. The office will also continue to monitor the situation to ensure that the Aetas are reintegrated properly into their community and have access to the resources they need.
Mayor Lazatin expressed his gratitude for the combined efforts of the various city departments involved in the operation. He reaffirmed the city’s commitment to the welfare of its marginalized communities, particularly the Aetas, who often face challenges in accessing basic services and support.
The reach out operation was part of the city’s broader outreach initiatives aimed at uplifting and assisting those in need, particularly during the festive season. The mayor emphasized that the city government would continue to focus on enhancing the welfare of all residents, regardless of their background or status.
With the successful rescue operation, the Angeles City Government has once again demonstrated its commitment to the well-being of its residents and its proactive approach to addressing the needs of vulnerable groups, such as the Aeta community.
