Under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., the Angeles City Government is continuing its free anti-flu vaccination program for City Hall employees, senior citizens, and individuals with co-morbidities. The program aims to provide essential protection against the flu virus, especially for those most at risk within the community.
On January 2, 2025, a key meeting took place to prepare for the roll-out of the vaccination program. The meeting was led by Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, along with several key officials from the city government. The gathering included City Health Officer Dr. Verona Guevarra, City Human Resources and Management Officer Rowena Yambao, City Social Welfare and Development Officer-in-Charge Francis De Guzman, Office for Senior Citizens Affairs Head Ed Torres, and Gender and Development Officer-in-Charge Mina Cabiles.
During the meeting, Mayor Lazatin highlighted the importance of providing protection to the city’s workforce to ensure they are able to carry out their duties effectively and continue to serve the Angeleños. “Kailangan din ng proteksyon ng ating mga kawani ng city hall para magampanan ng mabuti ang kanilang mga gawain at mas lalong mapagsilbihan ang mga Angeleño. Prayoridad din natin ang mga Senior Citizens bilang parte ng pagpapahalaga ng ating administrasyon sa kalusugan,” he said.
The program, which began in November 2023, has already reached significant milestones. Since its launch, a total of 4,682 city government employees have received their anti-flu vaccines, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the health of its workers.
In addition to City Hall employees, the vaccination initiative prioritizes senior citizens, who are at higher risk for complications from the flu. By providing free vaccines to this vulnerable group, the city is ensuring their well-being and enhancing their ability to stay healthy during the flu season.
The Angeles City Government continues to advocate for health and wellness in the community. This program is part of broader efforts to improve public health, particularly in vulnerable populations, as the city recognizes the importance of keeping its citizens safe and healthy.
As the vaccination program continues, Mayor Lazatin’s administration remains committed to protecting its residents, especially those at the greatest risk of serious flu-related complications, with the goal of maintaining a healthier and more resilient Angeles City.
