On January 7, 2025, the Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., began administering free anti-flu vaccinations to senior citizens in Barangay Sto. Domingo. The city deployed its mobile bus clinic to expedite the vaccination process, ensuring that the elderly receive timely protection against the flu virus.
The anti-flu vaccination campaign is part of Mayor Lazatin’s ongoing efforts to prioritize the health and safety of the city’s senior population. The use of mobile bus clinics is aimed at making the vaccination process more convenient, allowing healthcare services to reach those who may have mobility issues or difficulty traveling to fixed locations.
In addition to the mobile bus clinics, Mayor Lazatin ordered the City Health Office (CHO), led by Dr. Verona Guevarra, in collaboration with the Gender and Development Office (GAD) headed by Mina Cabiles and the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO), under the leadership of Rodolfo Simeon, to fast-track the vaccination of senior citizens. These efforts are being carried out simultaneously at the city’s health centers, where healthcare teams have been deployed to assist the elderly.
The teams, composed of healthcare professionals and workers, are being supervised by Mayor Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, ensuring that the vaccination campaign runs smoothly and efficiently. The city is determined to ensure that all senior citizens are vaccinated as quickly as possible to protect them from the flu.
Dr. Guevarra encouraged senior citizens to take advantage of the free vaccines, stressing that the vaccination serves as an essential shield against flu-related illnesses. The city’s health officials are working to ensure that as many elderly residents as possible are vaccinated and provided with the necessary protection against potential health risks.
The vaccination drive in Barangay Sto. Domingo also saw the participation of key local figures, including City Health Office Nurse Supervisor Evelinda Mariano and Barangay Sto. Domingo Captain Marcia Arceo. Their involvement highlights the collaborative effort between the city government and barangay leaders to ensure the success of the vaccination initiative.
Mayor Lazatin’s commitment to prioritizing the health of the elderly continues with this anti-flu vaccination drive. The initiative not only aims to protect senior citizens from seasonal flu but also reinforces the city’s dedication to ensuring the well-being of its most vulnerable population.
