The Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., has successfully continued its house-to-house distribution of P1,000 in financial assistance and a three-month supply of Vitamin C supplements for senior citizens in Barangay Sto. Domingo on January 8, 2025. This initiative aims to support the city’s elderly population and ensure their well-being.
The distribution covered a total of 3,427 senior citizens in Barangay Sto. Domingo, as part of a broader effort to reach 47,670 registered seniors across the city’s 33 barangays. This program is an ongoing commitment to improve the quality of life for elderly residents, who are among the most vulnerable members of the community.
Led by Eduardo Torres, the head of the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs, the distribution aims to make essential support accessible for seniors, particularly those who have difficulty leaving their homes. The effort is part of Mayor Lazatin’s wider strategy to prioritize the health and welfare of the elderly.
This marks the fifth consecutive year that the city has provided financial aid and Vitamin C supplements to all registered senior citizens. The initiative has become a staple program, contributing to the overall health of the elderly by boosting their immune systems through the regular supply of Vitamin C.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the continued importance of these initiatives, stating, “Tuloy-tuloy po ang mga programang nasimulan natin para sa ating mga senior citizens.” This highlights his ongoing dedication to ensuring that senior citizens remain a priority in the city’s welfare programs.
The program has grown over the years, with more seniors benefiting from the assistance. In 2023, a total of 48,439 seniors received the cash and supplements, 40,159 in 2022, 53,996 in 2021, and 55,815 in 2020. These numbers demonstrate the city’s expanding reach in supporting its elderly population.
As the distribution continues across other barangays, the city’s commitment to the welfare of senior citizens remains steadfast, and the programs spearheaded by Mayor Lazatin will continue to provide essential services for years to come.
