On January 8, 2025, the members of the Angeles City Barangay Outreach, following the directive of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., conducted fumigation activities in Barangay Ninoy Aquino as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to control and prevent the spread of dengue. This fumigation is a key part of the city’s comprehensive approach to combating mosquito-borne diseases, particularly the dengue virus.
The city government continues to implement the 4S strategy in its fight against dengue, which includes searching and destroying mosquito breeding sites, promoting self-protection measures, encouraging early consultation with health professionals, and saying “yes” to fogging when there is an outbreak. This multi-pronged approach is aimed at reducing the risk of dengue transmission throughout the city, particularly during peak mosquito breeding seasons.
Dengue fever remains a significant public health concern in many parts of the Philippines, including Angeles City. As part of the fumigation efforts, fogging operations were carried out to eliminate mosquito larvae and adult mosquitoes, particularly in areas with a high incidence of dengue. This initiative not only targets the immediate risks but also serves as a preventive measure to ensure that future outbreaks are minimized.
The fumigation operations in Barangay Ninoy Aquino were conducted early in the morning to ensure minimal disruption to the daily activities of residents. The fumigants used in the operation are designed to target the adult mosquitoes that transmit the dengue virus while being safe for the community when properly administered.
In addition to the fumigation activities, the city government has been actively educating the public about the importance of removing standing water and maintaining cleanliness in and around homes to prevent mosquito breeding. The local health department has also been conducting seminars and distributing educational materials to encourage residents to take part in the fight against dengue.
Mayor Lazatin has announced that similar fumigation activities will be conducted in other barangays across the city. These efforts will continue as part of the city’s broader strategy to combat the dengue epidemic and ensure the health and safety of its citizens.
With these proactive measures, Mayor Lazatin hopes to reduce the impact of dengue on the residents of Angeles City, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to public health and ensuring that the community remains protected from preventable diseases. The city’s continued efforts to address mosquito-borne illnesses reflect its dedication to improving the overall well-being of its people.
