On January 14, 2025, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. officially inaugurated four new state-of-the-art computer laboratories in local public schools. This initiative is part of his ongoing ICT Modernization Program, aimed at improving digital education in the city’s public schools. The newly launched labs are located in Sapangbato National High School and Malabanias Integrated School, with each school now housing two new computer rooms.
The new computer labs are part of a broader project to modernize and expand digital learning facilities across Angeles City. Additional computer laboratories will be opened on January 15 and 16, 2025, at Governor Rafael Lazatin Integrated School and Rafael Lazatin Memorial High School. These new spaces aim to provide students with the necessary digital skills and knowledge to excel in an increasingly technology-driven world.
Mayor Lazatin was joined by Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting and several members of the City Council, including Atty. Arvin Suller, Marino Bañola, Edu Pamintuan, Alexander Indiongco, Cris Cortez, JC Aguas, Raco Del Rosario, and Jesus Sangil, in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Also present were other key officials, such as ABC President Danilo Nacu, Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Secretary to the Mayor Raffy Lazatin, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, and Department of Education Angeles City Schools Division Superintendent Engr. Edgard Domingo.
These computer labs, each outfitted with 40 computers, are designed to address the growing need for digital resources in schools. In addition to the computers, the new facilities are equipped with computer tables, chairs, printers, air conditioning units, smart televisions, and fiber-optic internet connections, ensuring a modern and effective learning environment for students.
The establishment of these new labs is part of the city’s strategic plan to ensure a favorable student-to-computer ratio and promote digital literacy. By incorporating advanced technology into the educational system, the city aims to offer students improved learning experiences that better prepare them for future academic and professional challenges.
Since 2024, the city has made significant strides in its ICT Modernization Program. Last year, Angeles City High School and Northville 15 Integrated School each opened three computer labs, while Angeles City National Trade School and Angeles City National High School each inaugurated two new computer rooms.
With a total of 16 new state-of-the-art computer labs now available to students, Mayor Lazatin reaffirmed his commitment to investing in the education sector. These initiatives reflect the city’s ongoing efforts to provide students with the resources they need to succeed in the digital age and to meet the educational demands of the future.
