On January 16, 2025, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. directed Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel to conduct an ocular inspection at the Rural Health Units (RHU) in Barangays Pulung Maragul and Cutud. The inspection was conducted in preparation for the upcoming blessing and official opening of these upgraded health facilities.
Accompanying them during the inspection were key city officials, including Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer Irish Bonus-Llego, City Engineer’s Officer-in-Charge Helen Ayro, City Health Officer Dr. Verona Guevarra, and General Services Officer Evangeline Malonzo. The team reviewed the improvements made to the former sub-health centers, ensuring they are ready to serve the residents of the two barangays.
The transformation of these sub-health centers into Rural Health Units is a significant step in Mayor Lazatin’s commitment to improving healthcare accessibility in the city. This initiative is part of his broader health program, which focuses on providing better access to medical services for every resident, especially those in more remote areas of Angeles City.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of this project in his statement: “This administration strongly stands for inclusiveness, especially in terms of health care. We want everyone to have access to readily available and free medical services.” This reflects his ongoing efforts to enhance public health services and ensure that no one is left behind.
The RHUs in Pulung Maragul and Cutud will offer a wide range of medical services, addressing the needs of the local population and reducing the burden on other healthcare facilities in the city. The improvements aim to provide more efficient and comprehensive health services, directly benefitting the residents of these barangays.
Once operational, the newly upgraded Rural Health Units will not only improve healthcare access but will also contribute to the overall welfare of the communities. By providing quality healthcare services close to home, the program seeks to make medical assistance more accessible to those who need it most.
As the project moves closer to its official opening, Mayor Lazatin and his team are excited to see the positive impact the new RHUs will have on the communities of Pulung Maragul and Cutud. This development is yet another step toward making healthcare more inclusive and ensuring that every resident of Angeles City has access to the services they deserve.
