Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. recently visited and inspected Belen Homesite Elementary School, which is set to become the first solar-powered public elementary school in Central Luzon. This initiative is part of the city government’s commitment to integrating renewable energy solutions in public institutions and enhancing the learning environment for students.
Mayor Lazatin was joined during the inspection by Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel. Together, they reviewed the plans for installing solar panels at the school, which will provide energy to power air conditioners and smart TVs in eight classrooms. This will ensure a more comfortable and modern learning experience for the students.
Once completed, Belen Homesite Elementary School will be the first fully air-conditioned and solar-powered elementary school in Angeles City, setting a new standard for educational facilities in the region. The solar panels will not only make the school more energy-efficient but also reduce operational costs, promoting sustainability in local public schools.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of improving educational infrastructure for the city’s students. “We will improve Belen Homesite Elementary School for our students, and my only wish for them is to study well,” he said, highlighting his commitment to providing better resources for education and fostering a conducive learning environment.
The project is a pioneering effort in Central Luzon, positioning Angeles City as a leader in integrating solar energy into educational institutions. By harnessing renewable energy, the city is working towards reducing its carbon footprint and creating a sustainable model for other schools to follow.
In addition to the solar installation, the air conditioning and smart TVs will provide a more comfortable and engaging classroom experience, supporting both the physical and educational needs of students. This forward-thinking initiative reflects the city’s ongoing efforts to modernize its public schools and enhance the quality of education.
As the project moves forward, Belen Homesite Elementary School is set to become a symbol of innovation in education, combining renewable energy with modern learning tools to ensure that students receive the best possible education in a progressive and environmentally conscious setting.
