On January 21, 2025, the Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., launched the house-to-house distribution of P3,000 in financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements to 12 bedridden senior citizens and seven senior citizens aged 90-99 in Barangay Cutud. Mayor Lazatin was accompanied by the Barangay Cutud Council, led by Captain Jesusito Masbang, during the distribution event.
This initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to support the elderly, particularly those who are bedridden or in the 90-99 age group. A total of 664 bedridden senior citizens and 612 seniors aged 90-99 from the city’s 33 barangays will benefit from this program, receiving both financial aid and Vitamin C supplements to help boost their health and well-being.
Apart from the cash assistance and health supplements, the elderly recipients will also have access to free medical check-ups and laboratory tests provided by the City Health Office and the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. The initiative ensures that the city’s senior citizens are not only financially supported but also given the medical attention they need to stay healthy.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of prioritizing the needs of the elderly, especially those who are bedridden or in advanced age. “Our elderly citizens have contributed so much to our community, and we must ensure that they are well-cared for in their later years,” the Mayor stated during the distribution.
The distribution program is being overseen by the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs, which is led by Eduardo Torres. Torres noted that this initiative to provide assistance to senior citizens started in 2019, when Mayor Lazatin assumed office. He pointed out that it was under this administration that registered senior citizens began receiving financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements.
Mayor Lazatin’s administration has consistently placed a strong focus on the welfare of the elderly, with this initiative being a key part of that commitment. The program reflects the city’s dedication to improving the quality of life for senior citizens, ensuring they have access to the support they need.
Through this ongoing initiative, the city continues to show its commitment to enhancing the welfare of its senior population, reaffirming that the elderly will always be a priority in the administration’s efforts to create a more inclusive and compassionate community.
