On January 21, 2025, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. conducted an on-site inspection of the new Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC) annex building to assess the progress of its ongoing construction. He was accompanied by City Councilor Atty. Arvin Suller, City Engineer’s Officer-in-Charge Helen Ayro, and RLMMC Chief Medical Officer Dr. Froilan Canlas during the visit.
Mayor Lazatin provided an update on the ongoing Phase 2 of the RLMMC expansion project, which is set to increase the hospital’s capacity and improve the quality of healthcare services in the city. Phase 2 specifically focuses on the completion of the 5th to 7th floors of the annex building, which will play a crucial role in expanding the hospital’s infrastructure.
City Engineer Ayro also shared that significant progress is being made with the construction. “The OPD building and the Malasakit Center are nearing completion, while metal decking is currently being installed on the 6th floor,” she stated, highlighting the rapid development of the project. The new facilities are expected to accommodate more patients, further strengthening RLMMC’s role as a key healthcare provider in the region.
The expansion of RLMMC is a key component of Mayor Lazatin’s vision to enhance the healthcare infrastructure of Angeles City and ensure that residents have access to high-quality medical services. Once completed, the annex building will provide additional space for patient care, medical procedures, and hospital services, significantly improving the hospital’s overall capacity.
Dr. Froilan Canlas, the hospital’s Chief Medical Officer, expressed his optimism about the new development, noting that the expanded facilities would help meet the growing demand for medical services in the city. He emphasized that the ongoing improvements would ensure that RLMMC continues to provide efficient and comprehensive care to the public.
Mayor Lazatin, who has been a strong advocate for improving the city’s healthcare system, reiterated that the project is part of his administration’s commitment to ensuring that all Angelinos have access to better healthcare services. He believes that the additional floors and facilities will help address the increasing number of patients seeking medical care.
The mayor also thanked the public for their continued support of the project and assured them that the expansion would be completed in phases, with each stage designed to meet the community’s healthcare needs. As the construction progresses, the RLMMC is expected to provide improved medical services that will benefit both local residents and those from neighboring areas.
