On January 24, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. ordered the Angeles City Barangay Outreach team to carry out fumigation at EPZA Resettlement Elementary School as part of the city’s ongoing initiative to fight dengue. This fumigation effort is a key component of the city’s broader strategy to prevent the spread of the disease in local schools.
The city’s 4S strategy—search and destroy, self-protection measures, seek early consultation, and say yes to fogging in the event of an outbreak—has been implemented at the school to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds and reduce the risk of dengue transmission. These steps are part of the city’s proactive approach to ensuring the health and safety of students, teachers, and staff.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel is overseeing the fumigation operation, with support from Angeles City Economic Development Investment and Promotions Office (ACEDIPO) Chief Irish Bonus-Llego. Together, they are ensuring that the fumigation process is carried out effectively and efficiently to protect the school community from potential dengue outbreaks.
The fumigation at EPZA Resettlement Elementary School is part of a larger campaign that will extend to other public schools across the city. By reaching multiple schools, the city government is expanding its efforts to combat dengue and reduce the risk of further outbreaks within Angeles City.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the significance of these efforts, especially during the rainy season when the risk of mosquito-borne diseases like dengue increases. He assured residents that the local government is committed to maintaining a safe environment for students and the broader community through ongoing health and sanitation programs.
In addition to fumigation, the 4S strategy encourages residents to eliminate standing water around their homes and use mosquito repellent to protect themselves from mosquito bites. Public health education campaigns are also in place to inform citizens about the importance of these measures.
As the fumigation efforts continue across Angeles City, the local government remains vigilant in addressing the threat of dengue. The city’s commitment to public health and safety remains a top priority, ensuring that its residents are well-protected from the dangers of infectious diseases like dengue.
