On January 25, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. directed the Angeles City Barangay Outreach team to conduct fumigation at Cutud Elementary School as part of the city’s comprehensive effort to combat dengue. This fumigation is part of the city’s ongoing strategy to protect students, faculty, and the community from the dangers of dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
The fumigation is in line with the city’s 4S strategy—search and destroy, self-protection measures, seek early consultation, and say yes to fogging in case of outbreak. This approach aims to prevent the spread of dengue by targeting mosquito breeding grounds and reducing the risk of an outbreak, especially in schools where children are at greater risk.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel is overseeing the fumigation efforts, supported by Angeles City Economic Development Investment and Promotions Office (ACEDIPO) Chief Irish Bonus-Llego. Together, they are ensuring that the fumigation is executed effectively and efficiently to safeguard the health and safety of everyone at Cutud Elementary School.
The local government is taking a proactive approach to address the rising concerns of dengue, especially during the wet season when mosquito populations tend to surge. Mayor Lazatin’s directive highlights the city’s commitment to keeping schools and communities safe from preventable diseases like dengue.
The fumigation operation at Cutud Elementary School is just one part of a broader initiative to protect all public schools in Angeles City. The city plans to extend its fumigation efforts to other schools, ensuring that as many students as possible are shielded from potential dengue threats.
In addition to fumigation, the city is encouraging other preventive measures, such as proper waste disposal and the use of mosquito repellent. The city’s multi-faceted approach aims to engage the community in dengue prevention, empowering residents to take responsibility for their health and surroundings.
As the fumigation efforts continue in various schools across the city, the Angeles City Government is determined to reduce the impact of dengue outbreaks. With continued vigilance, the city aims to create a healthier environment for its students and the entire community.
