The Angeles City Government, under Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., has launched the house-to-house distribution of P3,000 financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements to 24 bedridden senior citizens and four senior citizens aged 90-99 years old in Barangay Pulung Cacutud on January 27, 2025. The initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to support the elderly population in the city.
During the distribution, Mayor Lazatin was accompanied by members of the Barangay Pulung Cacutud Council, led by Captain Francisco Cura. The distribution is part of a citywide program that will benefit 664 registered bedridden senior citizens and 612 senior citizens aged 90-99 years old across the 33 barangays in Angeles City. These individuals will receive both cash assistance and Vitamin C supplements to help improve their health and well-being.
In addition to the financial aid and supplements, the bedridden elderly and those aged 90-99 will also have access to free medical check-ups and laboratory tests, courtesy of the City Health Office and the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO). This comprehensive healthcare support aims to ensure that the elderly receive the proper medical attention they need.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of continuing to prioritize the welfare of bedridden seniors and those aged 90-99, ensuring that their needs are met with compassion and dedication. “These programs have been implemented to improve the quality of life for our elderly citizens, and we will continue to support them,” he stated.
The initiative to distribute financial aid and health supplements to seniors started in 2019 when Mayor Lazatin assumed office. Under his leadership, this program has expanded to include not only cash assistance but also necessary health supplements like Vitamin C, which are vital for immune health.
Eduardo Torres, head of the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs, spearheaded the distribution of assistance. He acknowledged the ongoing support provided by the city government for senior citizens and highlighted how these programs have been a significant source of help for the elderly population, especially since the start of Mayor Lazatin’s tenure.
This program is a testament to the city’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the elderly. As part of Mayor Lazatin’s priorities, the welfare and care of senior citizens continue to be a major focus, ensuring that every Angeleño, regardless of age, can live with dignity and support.
