The Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., has commenced the distribution of P1,000 cash assistance and five kilos of rice to registered solo parents in Barangay Cutud on January 27, 2025. This initiative is part of the city’s continued effort to provide support to solo parents across the city.
A total of 2,500 registered solo parents from the 33 barangays in Angeles City will receive the financial aid. The distribution was led by members of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), under the leadership of Francis De Guzman. The program aims to ease the burden on solo parents by offering them a much-needed financial boost.
De Guzman clarified that the aid is being provided exclusively to those who are registered with the Solo Parents Affairs Office, ensuring that the assistance is directed to those who need it most. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries, saying, “Solo parents are deeply appreciative because Mayor Lazatin has not forgotten to provide assistance to them.”
Since Mayor Lazatin assumed office in 2019, the CSWDO has implemented a system to issue IDs to registered solo parents, allowing them to easily access the benefits they are entitled to. This initiative has streamlined the process, making it easier for eligible solo parents to receive their aid.
In addition to the financial assistance and rice subsidy, the city has also provided support to solo parents through various livelihood programs. A notable example is the Angeleño First Facemask livelihood project, which has helped many solo parents generate additional income.
Mayor Lazatin’s administration has consistently prioritized the welfare of solo parents, recognizing the challenges they face in raising children while managing other responsibilities. The distribution of financial aid and rice is just one of many efforts aimed at improving their quality of life.
Through these initiatives, Mayor Lazatin continues to uphold his commitment to the well-being of Angeles City’s most vulnerable citizens, ensuring that solo parents receive the necessary support to thrive.
