On January 27, 2025, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. awarded a cash grant of ₱5,000 to the Angeles University Foundation College of Nursing Alumni Association (AUF CON-AA) during their courtesy visit at the Mayor’s Office. The financial support will assist in the execution of the association’s upcoming fundraising event, the RUNNURSE+ fun run project, which is aimed at raising funds for various initiatives and projects of the alumni association.
The cash support was presented to the AUF CON-AA leadership, headed by President Jerry Ligawen. The fun run, dubbed RUNNURSE+, was designed to involve the community and encourage active participation in support of the association’s ongoing programs and services. The event is expected to draw participants from various sectors, promoting both fitness and charity in the process.
During the meeting, President Ligawen expressed the alumni association’s gratitude for the mayor’s assistance. He highlighted that the funds raised from RUNNURSE+ will be directed towards supporting projects that benefit nursing students, alumni, and the local community. “This event is not only about fitness but also about giving back to the community and supporting future generations of nurses,” Ligawen said.
Mayor Lazatin commended the alumni association’s efforts and the significance of the fun run event, noting how it aligns with his administration’s goal of fostering a healthier and more active city. “We are happy to support the AUF College of Nursing Alumni Association and their efforts to promote health and wellness while also giving back to the community,” the mayor stated.
The RUNNURSE+ event is expected to be an exciting and inclusive experience for all participants, with activities that promote fitness, camaraderie, and community spirit. The fun run will not only help raise funds for the AUF CON-AA’s initiatives but will also encourage people of all ages to engage in physical activity and contribute to a good cause.
Mayor Lazatin reiterated his support for similar projects, which highlight the importance of community involvement and the role of alumni in giving back to their institutions. The city government continues to back programs that aim to uplift public health and education, recognizing the value of such initiatives in shaping a stronger, more engaged community.
The RUNNURSE+ fun run is expected to take place in the coming weeks, with details and registration information soon to be announced. The AUF CON-AA looks forward to a successful event that will not only raise funds but also create lasting connections among alumni, students, and the wider Angeles City community.
