Angeles City officially launched its groundbreaking “Angeleño Alerto! POGI Emergency App” on January 28, 2025, marking a major milestone as the first mobile app of its kind in both Pampanga and the entire region. The app is designed to significantly streamline emergency response, ensuring that help arrives in critical situations more quickly, cutting response times to as little as eight minutes.
The launch event, held at the Barangay Pandan covered court, was led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., with the presence of Pampanga 1st District Representative Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II. A live demonstration was conducted, showcasing the app’s ability to speed up emergency responses. During the simulation, responders took only three minutes to reach a reported incident at Francisco G. Nepomuceno Memorial High School, successfully transporting a patient to the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the app’s role in reducing response times during emergencies, ensuring that help arrives faster. “With this app, we can cut response time and ensure faster help during emergencies,” he said. He also expressed his gratitude to local responders for their continued commitment to the safety of the community.
The app allows users to report incidents in real-time and share their exact locations with responders, including personnel from the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO), the Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Angeles City Police Office. Mayor Lazatin challenged the responders to continue improving their response times to serve the people of Angeles more efficiently.
IC Calaguas, the Mayor’s Chief Adviser, who supervised the app’s development alongside Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, highlighted its potential to save lives. “No matter where you are, help is now just a tap away,” Calaguas said, stressing how the app embodies the city’s commitment to enhancing disaster preparedness and public safety through technology and innovation.
The POGI app is free to download and offers a user-friendly registration process. A step-by-step guide on how to use the app will be shared on the Angeles City Information Office’s official Facebook page. This initiative is part of the city’s broader strategy to integrate technology into public services, improving overall safety and efficiency in responding to emergencies.
The launch was attended by DILG – Angeles City Director Yvette Cosio, 33 barangay captains and kagawads, as well as various department heads and chiefs-of-offices. The city government aims to continue fostering public safety through innovation and ensure that its residents are always prepared for emergencies.
