Angeles City has officially launched the Angeleño Alerto! 24/7 Mobile App – Personal On-call Guard Interface (POGI), marking a significant leap forward in the city’s emergency response capabilities. The app was introduced on January 28, 2025, during a grand launching event at the Barangay Pandan covered court. The event was attended by various city officials, including Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., and other key leaders in the community.
Mayor Lazatin explained that the purpose of the POGI app is to streamline emergency response efforts by allowing residents to directly report incidents in real time. Users of the app can share their exact location with responders from the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO), led by Rodolfo Simeon, as well as other local emergency services like the Bureau of Fire Protection and Angeles City Police Office.
A key feature of the app is its ability to reduce the response time in emergencies, ensuring that help arrives quickly when it is needed the most. During the event, a live demonstration showcased how the app works in real-life situations. The simulation highlighted how responders were able to reach the scene of an emergency at Francisco G. Nepomuceno Memorial High School in just three minutes, successfully transporting a patient to Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of cutting response times in emergency situations. “With this app, we can cut response time and ensure that help arrives faster, saving more lives,” he said, thanking the responders for their dedication to keeping the city safe. This initiative is part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to improve public safety and disaster preparedness through technology.
The app is designed to be user-friendly, offering a simple registration process for residents to access emergency services quickly. Once registered, users can report incidents and provide exact locations to emergency responders. Mayor Lazatin also urged the city’s responders to continue improving their efficiency, challenging them to further reduce response times for the benefit of the community.
IC Calaguas, the Mayor’s Chief Adviser, who oversaw the development of the app alongside Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, highlighted the life-saving potential of this new technology. “No matter where you are, help is just a tap away,” Calaguas stated. He further emphasized how the app reflects the city’s commitment to innovation and ensuring public safety at all times.
The POGI app is available for free download, with a detailed registration guide that will be posted on the Angeles City Information Office’s Facebook page. With this launch, the city hopes to provide residents with a more efficient way to connect with emergency responders and ensure faster assistance during times of crisis.
