Angeles City has officially launched its innovative Angeleño Alerto! 24/7 Mobile App, also known as the Personal On-call Guard Interface (POGI), on January 28, 2025. The app was introduced during a grand launching event held at the Barangay Pandan covered court, with Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. leading the ceremony. The launch marks a significant milestone in the city’s efforts to improve public safety and enhance emergency response times.
The POGI app is designed to empower residents by allowing them to directly report emergencies in real-time and share their exact location with local responders. By connecting residents with the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO), the Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Angeles City Police Office, the app aims to streamline emergency responses and ensure faster assistance in critical situations.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of cutting down response times during emergencies, highlighting that the app’s functionality enables a more efficient and quicker response from emergency personnel. “With this app, we can significantly reduce response times and provide faster help when it’s needed most,” Mayor Lazatin said. He expressed his gratitude to all city responders who play a crucial role in ensuring public safety.
The live demonstration during the event showcased how the app works in practice. Responders were able to reach the location of an emergency at Francisco G. Nepomuceno Memorial High School within minutes, successfully transporting a patient to Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center. The simulation served as proof of the app’s effectiveness in speeding up emergency response times, with the entire process taking just eight minutes.
The app also features a user-friendly registration process, which allows Angeleños to quickly access emergency services. Once registered, users can send emergency alerts and track the arrival of responders. Mayor Lazatin encouraged residents to download the app and make use of its features to help ensure their safety and well-being.
IC Calaguas, the Mayor’s Chief Adviser, who oversaw the app’s development, praised the app for its potential to save lives. “This app is more than just a tool – it’s a life-saving technology that ensures help is always within reach,” said Calaguas. He also highlighted how the initiative reflects the city’s commitment to using technology to improve public safety.
The Angeleño Alerto! POGI app is free to download and will soon be available on various app stores. Step-by-step guides on how to register and use the app will be shared on the Angeles City Information Office’s Facebook page. The launch of the app is part of a broader effort to improve disaster preparedness and emergency response in Angeles City, ensuring the safety of its residents.
