On January 30, 2025, Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel conducted an inspection of the ongoing renovation and facelift of the primary health care unit in Barangay Cutud. This visit is part of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr.’s continued efforts to improve healthcare services across Angeles City. The upgrades aim to provide more accessible and better-quality health services for the growing population of Angeleños.
During the inspection, they were joined by several key city officials, including City Engineer’s Officer-in-Charge Helen Ayro, Angelo Tayag of the City Engineer’s Office (CEO), General Services Officer Evangeline Malonzo, Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer Irish Bonus-Llego, Gender and Development Officer Mina Cabiles, and City Health Assistant Officer Dr. Cristine Joy Patio. Together, they reviewed the progress of the renovation works, ensuring that the facility will meet the healthcare needs of the community.
Calaguas highlighted the importance of expanding the city’s healthcare infrastructure, mentioning that once nine additional primary health care units are completed, the city will have the ideal number of facilities to meet the demands of its population. This will significantly improve healthcare access for Angeleños, particularly in underserved areas.
Since Mayor Lazatin took office in 2019, the city has focused on expanding and improving its health services. At the time, there were only six Rural Health Units (RHUs) in the city. With the ongoing improvements, the city is working to ensure that all residents have access to healthcare close to home, particularly in densely populated neighborhoods like Barangay Cutud.
In addition to the renovation efforts, the city government is also prioritizing the availability of essential medicines in every primary health care unit. This measure ensures that residents can access medications without unnecessary delays, further enhancing the quality of care provided at these facilities.
Barangay Cutud Captain Jesusito Masbang also joined the inspection, showing his support for the project. His involvement underscores the importance of local leadership in ensuring that community needs are met and that improvements are carried out effectively.
Mayor Lazatin’s administration remains committed to improving healthcare services in Angeles City, with a focus on making quality health services available to every resident. The ongoing renovation projects, along with the strategic addition of new health care units, demonstrate the city’s dedication to enhancing public health infrastructure and supporting the well-being of its residents.
