On February 4, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. instructed the Angeles City Barangay Outreach team to conduct fumigation activities in Barangay Cutud as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to combat the spread of dengue. This proactive measure is aimed at reducing the presence of mosquitoes, which are the primary carriers of the disease, and ensuring the health and safety of residents.
The fumigation is part of the city’s broader 4S strategy against dengue, which stands for Search and Destroy, Self-Protection Measures, Seek Early Consultation, and Say Yes to Fogging in the event of an outbreak. The strategy has been designed to target both the prevention and control of dengue within the community, empowering residents to actively participate in reducing mosquito-breeding sites around their homes.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of these measures to prevent the spread of dengue, a mosquito-borne illness that poses a significant health risk to the city. By conducting fumigation in high-risk areas, the city aims to decrease mosquito populations and prevent the outbreak of the disease in vulnerable communities like Barangay Cutud.
The fumigation activities involve the use of safe and effective methods to eliminate adult mosquitoes and reduce the risk of dengue transmission. The city’s public health officials have been closely monitoring the situation and are taking every step necessary to ensure that preventative actions are being implemented efficiently.
In addition to fumigation, the city is promoting the 4S strategy through public education, urging residents to eliminate stagnant water where mosquitoes breed. The goal is to engage the community in proactive measures, such as removing water containers, cleaning gutters, and using mosquito nets to protect against bites.
As part of its ongoing efforts to prevent dengue outbreaks, the Angeles City government will also conduct fumigation activities in other barangays throughout the city. These initiatives reflect the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the health of Angeleños and addressing public health threats in a timely manner.
The city’s focus on dengue prevention and control, especially through fumigation and community participation, highlights its dedication to creating a safer, healthier environment for all residents. Mayor Lazatin’s leadership in addressing public health concerns underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in keeping the community safe from infectious diseases.
