On February 5, 2025, the Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., launched the house-to-house distribution of P3,000 financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements to bedridden senior citizens and those aged 90 to 99 years old. The program began in Barangay Pulungbulu, where 12 bedridden seniors and 10 elderly residents, within the 90-99 age group, were the first recipients of the aid.
Mayor Lazatin was accompanied by Barangay Pulungbulu officials, led by Captain Lorna Zabala, during the distribution. This initiative is part of the city’s continued efforts to ensure that its elderly residents, especially the most vulnerable, receive the necessary support and care.
The program will extend to other barangays, with a total of 664 bedridden senior citizens and 612 seniors aged 90 to 99 years old from across the 33 barangays of Angeles City expected to benefit from the financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements. This initiative aims to provide some relief and promote the health of elderly residents who often face challenges accessing essential resources.
In addition to the cash assistance and Vitamin C supplements, bedridden seniors and those in the 90-99 age group will also have access to free medical check-ups and laboratory tests, courtesy of the City Health Office and the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. These services aim to further address the healthcare needs of elderly residents.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that this initiative underscores the city’s dedication to prioritizing the welfare of its elderly population, particularly those who are bedridden or of advanced age. He reiterated that the local government will continue to provide necessary support to ensure their well-being.
The distribution of assistance is led by the Office for the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), under the leadership of Eduardo Torres. Torres noted that this initiative started in 2019 when Mayor Lazatin took office. Since then, it has become a vital part of the city’s efforts to assist senior citizens, offering them not only financial aid but also health support through Vitamin C supplements.
This ongoing commitment to the elderly reflects Mayor Lazatin’s longstanding priority of enhancing the quality of life for senior citizens in Angeles City, ensuring they feel valued and supported by the local government.
