Angeles City’s security infrastructure received a major boost with the inauguration and blessing of the newly-expanded Command Center, now equipped with 375 security cameras throughout the city. The installation of 210 additional cameras, strategically placed in key areas, has effectively eliminated all blind spots, providing complete surveillance coverage across the city.
The ceremonial event, which took place at the Command Center, was attended by various local leaders, including Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. The Mayor expressed his commitment to continuing efforts that enhance the city’s public safety, emphasizing the importance of advanced technology in crime prevention and overall security management.
As part of the expansion, the Command Center now houses 125 PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras, offering 8mp resolution with 36x optical zoom and wide dynamic range capabilities. These high-tech cameras ensure clear video footage, even in low-light conditions, contributing to better monitoring of public spaces and high-traffic areas. The network also includes 250 bullet cameras with 4mp resolution, designed for consistent performance across various environments.
To further strengthen the city’s surveillance capabilities, 16 Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras have been installed at strategic entry points to the city, such as those in Porac, Mabalacat City, San Fernando, and Magalang. These cameras will help identify and track vehicles, adding an extra layer of security for the city’s borders.
With the expansion of the camera network, the city has hired an additional 39 CCTV operators, bringing the total to 72. The operators work around the clock in three shifts to monitor and respond to real-time events, ensuring immediate action in case of emergencies or security threats. The Command Center has also been upgraded with state-of-the-art computers to support the increased workload.
In addition to the camera system, the Command Center now features a facial recognition security door lock system. This new technology is designed to enhance access control, ensuring only authorized personnel can enter sensitive areas within the facility.
Mayor Lazatin’s initiative to expand the Command Center is part of his administration’s long-term vision of providing a safer, more secure environment for all residents. By integrating cutting-edge surveillance and security systems, Angeles City continues to prioritize public safety and proactive crime prevention efforts.
