With just five months left in his term, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. remains focused on delivering more impactful projects for the residents of the city. The mayor emphasized his administration’s commitment to improving public safety, education, and technological innovation, vowing to continue pushing forward with several key initiatives before his term concludes.
On February 5, 2025, Mayor Lazatin led the blessing and inauguration of the newly upgraded Angeles City Emergency Disaster Command Center, fulfilling a major promise from his 2022 reelection campaign. The enhanced command center now boasts 375 CCTV cameras, a significant increase from the previous 165, ensuring comprehensive surveillance coverage across major city roads and eliminating blind spots.
The CCTV expansion is a crucial part of the city’s efforts to improve real-time monitoring, disaster management, and crime prevention. The upgrade will provide better security and faster response times in emergency situations, supporting the mayor’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding the community.
This project follows closely behind the recent launch of the Angeleño ALERT 24/7 Mobile App, which includes the Personal On-Call Guard Interface (POGI) to enhance the city’s safety protocols. Additionally, 16 state-of-the-art computer laboratories were recently inaugurated in public schools, marking another milestone in Lazatin’s push for digital innovation in the local education system.
Mayor Lazatin credited the success of these initiatives to various city offices and partners, including the City Engineer’s Office (CEO), Information and Communications Technology Division (ICTD), General Services Office (GSO), Office of the Mayor, and Converge ICT Co-Founder and CEO Dennis Uy. Their collaboration has been vital in bringing these projects to life.
“As my term nears its end, I assure you that my dedication to public service will never waver,” Lazatin said during the inauguration ceremony. He promised that more projects would be rolled out and completed before his term ends, continuing his administration’s focus on progressive development for Angeles City.
With only a few months remaining in office, Mayor Lazatin remains committed to delivering more improvements for the city, ensuring that his legacy will be marked by tangible achievements that benefit the residents and create lasting positive change.
