ANGELES CITY – Converge ICT Solutions Inc. Co-Founder and CEO Dennis Uy reiterated his strong support for Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr.’s goal of creating a smarter, more secure Angeles City during the inauguration of the upgraded Angeles City Emergency Disaster Command Center on February 6, 2025. Uy, a proud Angeles native, highlighted the importance of technology and innovation in transforming public services, which are central to the city’s future.
Speaking at the event, Uy praised the leadership of Mayor Lazatin and his brother, First District Congressman Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, noting their progressive and adaptive vision for the city. “They are progressive, adaptive, and innovative leaders—that is why there is a better future for Angeles under the Lazatin brothers,” Uy said, expressing confidence that their leadership will continue to drive the city forward.
Uy also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the project, emphasizing his personal connection to Angeles. “As this is my hometown, this project holds a special place in my heart. Keni ku dinagul, keni ku minasensu, keni ku magbalik,” Uy shared, which translates to, “Here, I grew up. Here, I succeeded. Here, I give back.”
The newly upgraded command center is a significant leap forward for the city’s security infrastructure. With more than 375 CCTV cameras now in place—up from the previous 165—the surveillance coverage has been significantly expanded, particularly in high-traffic and key areas. These cameras are equipped with advanced technology capable of detecting traffic violations such as speeding, improper lane usage, and distracted driving, along with monitoring seat belt and helmet compliance.
In addition to enhanced surveillance, the city’s digital infrastructure has also been expanded. Uy highlighted the provision of free Wi-Fi in 60 strategic locations, including schools, barangay halls, and rural health units, such as the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC). These improvements are crucial steps toward building a more connected and accessible city for residents and businesses alike.
Looking ahead, Uy shared Converge’s plans to establish a major data center in Angeles City, reinforcing its role as a digital hub in Central Luzon. He also mentioned the upcoming Pampanga Tech City initiative, which will foster technological innovation, create job opportunities, and provide training for local residents to further support the city’s digital transformation.
Concluding his remarks, Uy emphasized that the command center upgrade represents more than just a technological improvement—it marks the beginning of a new era of safety, connectivity, and progress in Angeles City. He expressed his confidence that under Mayor Lazatin’s leadership, Angeles City will continue to serve as a model of innovation and public service for other cities across the country.
