On February 10, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. awarded certificates of recognition and cash incentives to the Angeles City Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) — Male Dormitory at the Mayor’s Office. The awards were in recognition of the Male Dormitory’s exceptional performance during the 4th Quarter Gawad Penolohiya 2024. The awards highlight the unit’s dedication to implementing programs aimed at improving the lives of inmates and contributing to community welfare.
The Angeles City BJMP — Male Dormitory received a total of five awards as a unit in the prestigious correctional management recognition. These included ranking 2nd in Category A for the implementation of the Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (PAHP) Program, which tackles food insecurity and supports inmates’ reintegration into society. The unit also earned the 3rd spot in Quarterly Livelihood Product Sales for the 4th Quarter of 2024 and was recognized for their top-selling rattan products. Additionally, the Male Dormitory was named Best MSEC Unit and Best STAR Team, underscoring its excellent overall performance.
In addition to the unit awards, Mayor Lazatin recognized individual members of the BJMP — Male Dormitory for their exemplary contributions. Jail Officer 3 (JO3) Baby Diana Pineda was awarded Rank 1st among Female Jail Non-Officer Ranks and Best Skills Enhancement Program Officer. Meanwhile, JO2 Marvin Badongen was recognized as the Best Investigator Officer, and JO1 Zaldy A. Geronimo Jr. earned the title of Best Paralegal Officer.
Other individual awardees included JO1 Marissa Balanban, honored as the Best Livelihood Program Officer, and JO1 Allen Brix Madriga, who received recognition as the Best Jail Nurse. JO1 Camille Ann Romero was named the Best Searcher, while JO1 Jawee David Simbul earned the title of Best ALS Implementer. Lastly, JO1 Roldan Memeg was recognized as the Best Help Desk Officer, reflecting the dedication of the team in various aspects of jail management.
Mayor Lazatin praised the efforts of the BJMP — Male Dormitory, commending them for their hard work, innovation, and commitment to improving the jail facility and the lives of the inmates. He emphasized that these awards not only recognize individual excellence but also reflect the collective effort of the entire team in achieving remarkable results in correctional management.
The Gawad Penolohiya is a prestigious recognition that acknowledges the outstanding achievements in the field of correctional management.
