On February 10, 2025, 42 differently-abled individuals from Barangay Mining were recipients of cash assistance and rice subsidies from the Angeles City Government. Each individual received P1,000 in cash and five kilos of rice, as part of an ongoing program led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. The assistance was distributed through a house-to-house visit, ensuring that it reached the intended beneficiaries directly.
The distribution was supported by the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO), led by Ryan David, who worked alongside Mayor Lazatin to ensure a smooth and efficient process. David explained that this was not the first time the mayor had extended such assistance to the differently-abled community, underlining the city’s continuous efforts to prioritize their welfare.
Mayor Lazatin has made the support of persons with disabilities (PWDs) a cornerstone of his administration. This initiative is part of a larger effort to alleviate the financial challenges faced by the differently-abled population in the city. The mayor’s commitment to their well-being is reflected in the regular distribution of aid to ensure their needs are met.
In total, the city government plans to distribute the same assistance to 2,500 differently-abled residents throughout Angeles City. Each recipient will receive P1,000 in cash and five kilos of rice, helping to ease their daily burdens and ensure they have access to essential goods.
The house-to-house distribution method was carefully chosen to guarantee that individuals, especially those with mobility challenges, received the aid without facing barriers. This approach highlights the city’s determination to make assistance as accessible as possible to its most vulnerable residents.
Mayor Lazatin, along with the team from the PDAO, has been instrumental in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for the PWD sector. These initiatives not only provide immediate relief but also serve as a reminder of the city’s dedication to making Angeles City a place where all individuals, regardless of ability, are cared for and valued.
The residents of Barangay Mining have expressed their gratitude for the timely assistance, with many noting how much it has helped them. As the city government continues to prioritize the needs of persons with disabilities, the support from Mayor Lazatin and the PDAO will undoubtedly make a lasting positive impact on the community.
