On February 11, 2025, a total of 52 differently-abled individuals from Barangay Salapungan received financial and rice assistance through a house-to-house visit organized by the Angeles City Government. Each beneficiary was provided with P1,000 in cash and five kilos of rice, as part of the city’s ongoing support for its differently-abled residents. The initiative was led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., who was joined by members of the Barangay Salapungan Council, headed by Captain Reynaldo Malig.
The distribution event was also assisted by the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO), led by Ryan David. David noted that this is not the first time the city has provided such support, as Mayor Lazatin has consistently prioritized the welfare of persons with disabilities (PWDs) throughout his administration. This initiative reflects the city government’s commitment to ensuring that differently-abled individuals are not left behind in times of need.
Mayor Lazatin’s administration has made it a point to address the challenges faced by PWDs by providing timely assistance. The distribution of P1,000 cash aid and rice is part of a broader effort to assist differently-abled residents, enabling them to meet basic needs and improve their quality of life. The mayor emphasized the importance of continuing to support this sector of the population, who often face additional difficulties in their daily lives.
This initiative is part of a larger plan to reach 2,500 differently-abled Angeleños across the city. These individuals will also receive the same amount of cash assistance and rice to support their needs. The distribution process is conducted with the help of local government officials and PDAO members, ensuring that the aid reaches all eligible recipients.
The house-to-house distribution method was specifically chosen to make the process more convenient for the differently-abled residents, many of whom may have difficulty traveling to distribution centers. This thoughtful approach ensures that everyone receives the support they need directly in their homes, further reflecting the city’s dedication to accessibility and inclusivity.
The assistance provided to the differently-abled individuals is part of a broader effort to improve the quality of life for PWDs in Angeles City. In addition to financial support, the city government continues to offer programs and services aimed at promoting the well-being of the differently-abled population. These efforts are integral to ensuring that all residents, regardless of ability, have the resources they need to thrive.
Mayor Lazatin’s administration remains committed to making Angeles City a more inclusive and supportive place for all of its residents, particularly the differently-abled. As the distribution of cash and rice assistance continues across the city, the mayor and the PDAO will keep working to address the ongoing needs of this vital sector of the community.
