On February 11, 2025, 52 differently-abled individuals from Barangay Salapungan received much-needed financial aid and rice subsidies through a house-to-house visit organized by Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. Each recipient was given P1,000 in cash and five kilos of rice as part of the mayor’s ongoing initiative to support persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the city.
Accompanying Mayor Lazatin during the distribution were members of the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO), led by Ryan David. This partnership ensured that the distribution went smoothly and efficiently, with PDAO staff assisting in the process. According to David, this was not the first time that the mayor had extended such support to the PWD sector, highlighting the consistent efforts of the city government to prioritize their welfare.
Mayor Lazatin’s commitment to improving the lives of differently-abled individuals has been a key focus of his administration. He stressed that the welfare of PWDs remains one of his top priorities, and he is determined to continue providing programs and services that will help ease their daily struggles.
This cash and rice distribution is part of a broader initiative aimed at supporting 2,500 differently-abled residents across Angeles City. In addition to the cash assistance, the rice subsidy aims to ease the burden of rising food costs, providing PWDs with essential resources to help them meet their basic needs.
The distribution of aid was conducted through house-to-house visits, ensuring that the recipients, many of whom may face mobility challenges, were able to receive their assistance directly at home. This approach was specifically designed to make the process more accessible and convenient for the beneficiaries.
Ryan David expressed his gratitude to Mayor Lazatin for his continued dedication to the PWD community, noting that the mayor’s initiatives have significantly improved the lives of many individuals with disabilities in the city. The efforts of the city government reflect a strong commitment to inclusivity and support for all Angeleños.
In conclusion, Mayor Lazatin assured that this distribution was just one of many initiatives aimed at supporting the PWD sector. He emphasized that the city government would remain steadfast in its efforts to uplift and empower the differently-abled members of the community, ensuring that they receive the resources and assistance they need to thrive.
