Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. recently commended Barangay Mining, under the leadership of Barangay Captain Lester Hernandez, for earning the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB). Barangay Mining was among the 193 barangays in Central Luzon recognized for their exemplary governance and public service.
Out of the 3,102 barangays in the region, Barangay Mining stood out for its dedication to transparency, effective governance, and consistent commitment to serving the community. This recognition highlights the barangay’s achievements in various sectors, setting it apart as a model of good local governance.
“This accomplishment speaks volumes about Barangay Mining’s unwavering dedication to its constituents, prioritizing their welfare with integrity and efficiency,” said Mayor Lazatin. “We are truly proud of this achievement, which mirrors our collective efforts to uphold good governance here in Angeles City.”
The SGLGB, conferred by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), is a highly sought-after award that acknowledges barangays for excelling in areas such as financial management, disaster preparedness, social protection, peace and order, and environmental management. These criteria are rigorously assessed, making the award a significant milestone in a barangay’s governance journey.
Mayor Lazatin highlighted the importance of the award in reinforcing the city’s ongoing mission to promote transparency, accountability, and effective leadership at the grassroots level. He praised Barangay Mining for its proactive approach to addressing the needs of its residents while maintaining high standards of service delivery.
In recognition of this achievement, Mayor Lazatin extended his heartfelt congratulations to the entire team of Barangay Mining. He thanked Captain Lester Hernandez and all barangay officials for their continuous efforts in improving their community and setting a benchmark for other barangays to follow.
This recognition serves as an inspiration for other barangays within Angeles City and the region to strive for excellence in governance and public service. Mayor Lazatin reassured the public that the city government will continue to support the growth and development of its barangays to further elevate the standards of public service in the city.
