On February 20, 2025, the Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., launched a house-to-house distribution of financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements to senior citizens in Barangay Malabanias. The initiative focused on 19 bedridden senior citizens and six others aged 90 to 99 years old, providing them with P3,000 in cash aid and essential supplements.
Mayor Lazatin was joined by members of the Barangay Malabanias Council, headed by Punong Barangay Luz Nava, during the distribution. This initiative is part of the city’s continued efforts to care for and support its elderly residents, particularly those who are bedridden or in their advanced years.
A total of 664 registered bedridden senior citizens and 612 senior citizens aged 90-99 from the city’s 33 barangays will benefit from this assistance. The distribution will include both cash aid and Vitamin C supplements, ensuring that seniors receive not only financial support but also help in maintaining their health.
In addition to the financial aid and supplements, the elderly will also receive free medical check-ups and laboratory tests, which will be provided by the City Health Office and the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO). These services aim to ensure the overall well-being of the elderly, offering them comprehensive care.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that this initiative is a continuation of the city’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of the elderly, especially those in need of extra care due to their age and health conditions. This ongoing support demonstrates the city’s focus on addressing the needs of its most vulnerable residents.
Eduardo Torres, head of the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), led the distribution efforts. He shared that this program started in 2019 when Mayor Lazatin assumed office and has been a regular part of the city’s initiatives to care for the elderly. Under Lazatin’s leadership, registered senior citizens have consistently received both cash assistance and necessary health supplements.
In conclusion, the distribution of financial aid and Vitamin C supplements to elderly residents in Angeles City highlights the city’s dedication to ensuring that its senior citizens are well-supported. Mayor Lazatin’s focus on the welfare of the elderly continues to make a positive impact on the lives of the city’s senior population.
