ANGELES CITY – On February 24, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. extended his support to Raymond Manalo, who will represent the Philippines in the 28th World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Long Beach, California, in July 2025. During a courtesy call at the Mayor’s Office, Manalo was presented with a ₱5,000 cash support to aid in his preparations for the prestigious international competition.
WCOPA, often referred to as the “World Talent Olympics,” is a renowned event where performers and entertainers from around the world compete in various categories, including singing, dancing, acting, and modeling. Manalo’s participation in this global talent showcase is a significant achievement, and the cash assistance will help cover some of his expenses for the competition.
Accompanying Manalo during the visit was Dr. Aurelia Villaraza, who expressed her gratitude for the support extended by the city government. Mayor Lazatin congratulated Manalo for his exceptional talent and promised continued assistance as he prepares to compete on the world stage. “We are incredibly proud of Raymond and his accomplishments, and we are fully behind him as he represents our city and the Philippines at WCOPA,” said Lazatin.
During the meeting, Manalo expressed his excitement and determination to make a mark at the World Championships. “This opportunity means so much to me, and I will give my best to bring home pride for Angeles City and the Philippines,” Manalo shared. He also acknowledged the support of the local government, which has been instrumental in his journey to the international stage.
The mayor emphasized the importance of nurturing local talent and providing opportunities for them to shine globally. “As a city, we are committed to supporting individuals like Raymond who have the potential to excel in their fields and inspire others to pursue their dreams,” Mayor Lazatin added.
The financial aid and recognition from the city government serve as a testament to Angeles City’s ongoing efforts to support its citizens in their pursuit of excellence, particularly in arts and entertainment. The mayor’s administration remains dedicated to fostering an environment where local talent can thrive and gain exposure on the international stage.
As Manalo prepares for the WCOPA competition, he carries with him not only the hopes of his city but also the encouragement and pride of his fellow Angeleños. The support from Mayor Lazatin and the city government further strengthens the bond between the local community and its rising stars in various fields.
