In a show of continued support for inclusive advocacy, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. turned over financial assistance amounting to ₱10,000 to the Autism Society Philippines (ASP) — Angeles City Chapter on March 19, 2025. The support aims to help fund the organization’s participation in the upcoming Angels Walk for Autism 2025, scheduled for May.
Joining Mayor Lazatin during the handover were Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel and Persons with Disability Affairs Officer Ryan David. The turnover took place as part of the city’s commitment to empower persons with disabilities and promote awareness and understanding of autism.
The financial aid was received by ASP Angeles City Chapter officers led by President Marie Umali, along with Secretary Josephine De Luna, Treasurer Maritess Sison, and Auditor Felomina Perez. Also present was Omar Mohammed, a student with special needs who represented the autism community during the event.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the city’s unwavering support for groups advocating for the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities. He noted that the local government remains committed to creating a more inclusive society where everyone is given equal opportunities and respect.
The Autism Society Philippines — Angeles City Chapter expressed their gratitude for the financial support and the continuous partnership with the city government. They shared that the assistance would help cover logistics and materials for their participation in the national event.
The Angels Walk for Autism is a yearly advocacy walk that brings together individuals, families, and organizations in a united effort to raise public understanding about autism. The 2025 event is expected to draw thousands of participants from across the country.
With the city’s backing, ASP Angeles City is optimistic about their presence at this year’s walk, and remains hopeful that more people will be inspired to join the cause for autism awareness and inclusion.
