On March 27, 2025, Dr. Elizabeth Yturalde-Medina and Gilbert Medina paid a courtesy visit to the Angeles City Mayor’s Office, where they were warmly welcomed by Chief Adviser and Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel. The visit was in line with the Medinas’ preparations for the upcoming pickleball competition in April.
Representing Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., Calaguas and Manuel turned over personal financial support and donated Beautéderm products to assist the Medinas in organizing the event. The gesture highlights the city officials’ continued support for local sports events and community-driven athletic initiatives.
Dr. Medina is spearheading the PPF National Qualifying Pickleball Tournament, scheduled for April 11–13, 2025. The competition is expected to gather pickleball athletes and enthusiasts from various regions, contributing to the sport’s growing popularity in the country.
Calaguas commended the Medinas for their commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle through sports. “We are proud to support initiatives that not only foster community engagement but also place Angeles City on the national sports map,” she said during the visit.
Executive Assistant Reina Manuel echoed the sentiment, highlighting how grassroots sports events like the pickleball tournament help empower citizens, especially youth, to stay active and involved in positive recreational activities.
Dr. Medina expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the support and generosity extended by Mayor Lazatin, Calaguas, and Manuel. She noted that the financial assistance and product donations will go a long way in ensuring the success of the national tournament and supporting its participants.
Through continued backing of events like these, the Angeles City Government reaffirms its commitment to nurturing sports development and encouraging Angeleños to pursue active lifestyles and build stronger community ties.
