ANGELES CITY — In preparation for the upcoming elections, the first batch of Electoral Board members in Angeles City has officially commenced their mandatory training to ensure a smooth, transparent, and credible electoral process.
Held in coordination with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and the Department of Education, the training aims to equip teachers and poll officials with the knowledge and skills needed to efficiently manage polling precincts on election day.
The comprehensive training covers essential topics such as voting procedures, vote counting machine (VCM) operations, health protocols, handling of election paraphernalia, and procedures for addressing common election-day challenges.
Angeles City Election Officer Atty. Junie Ann Cuevas emphasized the importance of the training, stating, “Our electoral board members are at the frontline of democracy. This training ensures they are ready to carry out their duties with professionalism and accuracy.”
Participants were also trained on how to respond to emergency situations, uphold voter rights, and safeguard the integrity of the ballot, especially in high-pressure environments. Special attention was given to the secure transmission of results and prevention of any form of electoral fraud.
The City Government of Angeles, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., expressed full support for the ongoing efforts of COMELEC. The Mayor reiterated his commitment to ensuring that local agencies provide logistical assistance and security during the election period.
More batches of training sessions are scheduled in the coming weeks, as COMELEC aims to complete the training of all electoral board members well before the actual election. This initiative underscores the city’s commitment to a safe, credible, and efficient electoral process.
