Angeles City – In a remarkable achievement for both the city and the world of chess, young Angeleno Miguel Antonio Roque emerged as the champion in the prestigious King’s Bangkok Chess Championship, held in Thailand. Roque, who competed against 250 players from around the world, dominated the Under-10 category, solidifying his place as a rising star in the international chess community.
Roque’s impressive victory at the competition is a testament to his exceptional chess skills, determination, and strategic thinking. The young prodigy’s triumph has brought pride not only to his family but also to the entire city of Angeles, highlighting the talent that the city nurtures on the global stage.
The Angeleno chess champion was accompanied to Thailand by Maeve Mendiola, the Chief of the Angeles City Sports Office. Mendiola provided valuable support to Roque during the competition, ensuring he had everything he needed to perform at his best in the international arena. The trip was a significant milestone in Roque’s chess career, as he continued to build on his growing reputation as a young chess prodigy.
