ANGELES CITY — On March 11, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. officially inaugurated two new primary care facilities in Barangays Pulung Maragul and Malabanias. This move is part of the city government’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare services for all residents of Angeles City. These new facilities are expected to provide essential medical services to the growing population.
The newly constructed primary health care units are designed to meet the health needs of the city’s 450,000 residents. Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of increasing the number of healthcare facilities, stating that the city should have at least 15 primary care units to effectively serve its population. With these new additions, the city is making significant strides in improving healthcare access for its citizens.
A total of P55 million has been allocated by the city government for the construction of nine more primary care units across Angeles City. These units will offer a wide range of medical services, including dental care, consultations, laboratory testing, and other healthcare services. Each facility is equipped with dental rooms, consultation rooms, physician’s rooms, storage areas, and pharmacies stocked with necessary medications.
The new health centers aim to alleviate pressure on the existing healthcare facilities and ensure that all Angeleños have access to basic medical services. The city government plans to continue expanding these healthcare units, with Mayor Lazatin announcing that two more primary care facilities in Barangays Tabun and Cutud will be inaugurated on March 12, 2025.
In addition to the upcoming facilities in Tabun and Cutud, five more health centers are expected to open later this year in the barangays of Pulungbulu, Anunas, Capaya, Amsic, and Balibago. These efforts will bring the total number of primary care units in the city to 15, fulfilling the need for more accessible healthcare services for all residents.
When Mayor Lazatin took office in 2019, there were only six primary healthcare facilities in the city, located in Barangays Pandan, Sto. Domingo, Lourdes Northwest, Lourdes Sur East, Balibago, and Pulung Cacutud. With the addition of the new units, the city government is making significant progress in its goal to provide better healthcare access to Angeleños.
To further improve the delivery of healthcare services, the city government has also hired additional medical professionals, including doctors, dentists, pharmacists, and dental aides. These personnel will ensure that the expanded health facilities run efficiently and continue to provide high-quality services to the residents of Angeles City.
