To kick off National Women’s Month in March, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. posed for a photo with the Mayor’s Office staff, expressing their full support for the month-long celebration. The city’s initiatives this month aim to honor women and promote their health and well-being, with a series of activities planned throughout the month.
As part of the city’s commitment to women’s health, Mayor Lazatin announced that the local government will offer free health services to indigent Angeleñas. These services, which include pap smears, breast examinations, and HIV testing, will begin on March 6. The free medical check-ups are part of the mayor’s broader effort to ensure that women in Angeles City have access to essential healthcare and are protected from potential health risks.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of these health programs, highlighting how they will empower women by providing them with the necessary resources to take care of their well-being. These services are aimed at those who may not have the means to afford such tests and are part of the city government’s continuous efforts to improve the lives of the underprivileged.
In addition to the health initiatives, the City Tourism Office launched a visual art exhibit in honor of National Women’s Month. The exhibit, titled Malagû, opened at SM City Clark and showcases the works of local artists. The exhibit aims to celebrate the contributions of women in the arts and to provide a platform for their creative expressions.
The event was attended by several key city officials, including Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, City Councilor Atty. Arvin Suller, ACDRRMO Chief Rudy Simeon, and former Angeles City Public Cemetery Head Philip Samson. The presence of these officials highlighted the collaborative efforts within the city government to support the celebration of National Women’s Month.
Other officials present at the event included Tourism Officer Anneleen Sugui, Information Communication and Technology Division Chief Michael Lising, and Senior Staff members Sharmaine Gonzales, Anne Salonga, Jane Calimquim, and Rachelle Oloya. Their participation underscores the city’s commitment to celebrating and empowering women in various fields.
With these initiatives, Mayor Lazatin’s leadership continues to focus on improving the lives of women in Angeles City, providing them with the resources, recognition, and support they need to thrive. The National Women’s Month celebrations serve as a reminder of the importance of honoring women and ensuring their access to health, opportunities, and rights.
