Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has ordered a disinfection operation at Shekinah Christian Academy as part of the city’s proactive measures to prevent the spread of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD). The disinfection effort, initiated on February 1, 2025, was carried out by the Angeles City Barangay Outreach team, led by Michael Lising. Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel supervised the operation to ensure thorough implementation.
The disinfection at Shekinah Christian Academy is a key part of the city’s ongoing efforts to curb the spread of HFMD, a highly contagious disease that has been reported in several local schools. With the health of students and staff at stake, the city is taking decisive action to minimize the risk of an outbreak. The disinfection efforts aim to sanitize the school and protect the community from further transmission of the virus.
Dr. Verona Guevarra, the City Health Officer, explained that the disinfection was done using Anolyte, an advanced disinfectant that is both safe and effective. Anolyte is also eco-friendly, making it a suitable choice for ensuring thorough sanitation in schools while reducing potential health risks for students and faculty. Its use is part of the city’s commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment for everyone in the school community.
This initiative at Shekinah Christian Academy is just the beginning of the city’s wider plan to address the threat of HFMD. The local government has announced that similar disinfection activities will be conducted at other public and private elementary schools across the city. The goal is to stop the spread of the disease and protect children in schools throughout the region.
The disinfection activities have been welcomed by parents, students, and school officials, who have expressed gratitude for the city’s quick action in ensuring the safety of educational environments. The initiative is seen as an essential step in protecting the health of students and ensuring that schools remain places where children can continue to learn without fear of illness.
Mayor Lazatin’s administration has emphasized its commitment to public health, particularly in the context of educational spaces. By swiftly responding to the suspected cases of HFMD and implementing sanitation measures, the city is prioritizing the well-being of students and the wider community, ensuring that schools remain free of health threats.
As the situation develops, the Angeles City government will continue to monitor the spread of HFMD and take any further actions necessary to protect residents. Mayor Lazatin’s leadership in swiftly addressing public health concerns ensures that the city remains vigilant and prepared in the face of potential health risks.
