On February 12, 2025, the Angeles City Government, through its City Veterinary Office, held a free anti-rabies vaccination drive for dogs and cats in Barangays Claro M. Recto and Virgen Delos Remedios. This initiative highlights the city’s ongoing commitment to animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.
The vaccination event, led by Dr. Christian Xyric Arcilla of the City Veterinary Office, is part of a city-wide program that will extend to all 33 barangays in Angeles City. The veterinary team has created a calendar for these free vaccination drives to ensure that as many pets as possible benefit from the service.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, an animal welfare advocate, emphasized that this program was implemented as soon as Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. took office. The vaccination efforts are supervised by Mayor Lazatin’s Chief Adviser, IC Calaguas, who is also a strong proponent of animal welfare in the city.
Mayor Lazatin expressed the importance of this initiative in promoting responsible pet ownership among Angeleno households. He urged all pet owners to take advantage of the free vaccinations available in their respective barangays to ensure their pets’ health and safety.
The Mayor also called on residents to vaccinate their pets against rabies, a potentially fatal disease that can be transmitted to humans. “I urge all pet owners to have their dogs and cats vaccinated during the scheduled vaccination days in their barangays,” said Mayor Lazatin.
This free anti-rabies vaccination program is one of the many public health initiatives the city government is running to enhance the well-being of both humans and animals. With rabies prevention being a major focus, the vaccination drive aims to protect both pets and their owners from this deadly disease.
In total, the City Veterinary Office plans to visit each of the city’s barangays to offer free vaccines, continuing its efforts to improve public health and promote responsible pet ownership throughout Angeles City.
